Not perfect but still extraordinary

By Carlos

This review is from: Nikon COOLPIX P500 12.1 CMOS Digital Camera with 36x NIKKOR Wide-Angle Optical Zoom Lens and Full HD 1080p Video (Red)

YES it is not perfect. YES it takes a time to focus at full zoom (800 mm!!!!) YES, its is somehow difficult to focus at full zoom in low light. YES it is a litlle slow in saving the picture (in fine mode). YES I woul prefer a much better camera paying 150 USD as I would want absolute peace an end of poverty in the world.
BUT it is extraodinary the stabilization power at full zoom. I took photos of flamingos from a boat at full zoom, with the boat moving due to small waves. I couldn't see properly in the screen due to the movements of the image and the photos were perfect as if taken using a tripod. It is INCREDIBLE you can have a 24 to 800 mm zoom in such light camera for USD 400. AND Full HD videos too for the same price, although using the full zoom in video is not well stabilized.
I got amazing photos of birds and animals at full zoom without carrying a tripod.
If you want a professional camera, pay for it and carry the full weight of the camera plus at least 3 zooms to cover the range offered by this camera, be prepared to be robed of such bulky and expensive equipement and you will surely have much better photos to publish in National Geographic. But if you want to look at the pictures in your computer/tv set or print them in normal sizes, this is an excellent, light and easy to use camera worth the price I paid for it.
